With the 08/09 season now complete we look to the future and 09/10. Without time to take a breath the Flyers have moved from 7 teams last year up to 12, 2 more since i wrote this just 2 weeks ago! plus our Academy for next season. We now have over 150 children at the club and this represents a six-fold increase in players in just 2 years. Hopefully what we are providing is the right environment for the children to develop at the right pace and build a club that will have long term success on all fronts.
We have players moving to us from clubs all around the region and our player base is widening on a daily basis. With all the additional players we now have extra teams at Under 7, 9 and 10. A big welcome to all our new players and parents and we look forward to seeing you all in the Black and White over the summer and throughout next season.
With success at this level we have secured further pitches and training facilities to accommodate the ever-expanding Flyers teams. With all new equipment being purchased for the summer training our well-organised financial situation is serving us well.
We will be upgrading our existing Charter Standard level soon and news of this will be released as soon as the processes have all been completed.
Our Academy is blooming and this year has provided us with 2 Under 7 teams for the 09/10 season. We have had players picked up by professional academies already and hope to see many more children benefiting from our approach to coaching at all ages. We do not place any emphasis on having to win at any cost and would rather develop a player over an extended period in line with the FA’s coaching ethos on long term player development than go for a quick “win at all costs” attitude.
Training players to play good football does not always give an instant hit but we would rather see teams develop over time and become more accomplished in the long term. All our coaches invest a lot of time and effort to bring the best out of our children and we will reap the benefits of this in the years to come.
This doesn't mean that we dont want to win, just that it takes more than winning every game to make a successful club and we always want the best for the children.
We also have some long-term development plans for the club as a whole, which should secure our place in the area for many years to come. As an FA Charter Standard club there are many funding avenues open to us and we hope in the near future to be able to release our plans publicly.
So if you are looking for a club that’s going places and has your child’s best interests at heart then look no further. We would be happy to hear from parents of children at all ages that are looking for a club that will develop them at the right pace and with the right attitude.
